It won quite a bit laughs and applauds in the Writers Guild Theatre. It's hard trying to make people laugh. A mere attempt deserves some appreciation. But 200 million dollars -- how costly!

Critics hate it. Will Ferrell fans don't buy it. They must have done something wrong. For an adventure movie, it's a little too soft. There's not enough blood. For a comedy, especially for a Will Ferrell comedy, it does not push the envelope that hard. The true gross-out scenes -- a stoned Will Ferrel French kissing the Monkey, Aliens making out, how Will Ferrell gets out of the dinosaur -- are left out. For a Sci-Fi movie, it's simply not scientific enough. It certainly is not very romantic. The character growth is arbitrate. Things and people fly in and out with no reason...

However, it is a fun ride -- if you don't have to pay for the tickets, or the 200 mil budget.
